Against the cliché idea that “growing up” usually mean to no longer be creative, the movie/documentary Beautiful Losers lead us to the world of a few like-minded people coming together to create something new and original…

Influenced by the popular underground youth subcultures such as skateboarding, graffiti, street fashion and independent music, artists like Shepard Fairey, Mark Gonzales, Spike Jonze, Margaret Kilgallen, Mike Mills, Barry McGee, Phil Frost, Chris Johanson, Harmony Korine, and Ed Templeton

develop a cultural movement influenced by the D.I.Y (do it yourself ) attitude…

With no formal training and almost no conception of the inner workings of the art world. They learned their crafts through practice, trial and error, and good old-fashioned innovation.

After the book released in 2004, the project “Beautiful Losers” in now available as movie/documentary.

Ed Templeton: “Map of the Inner War” exhibition

Pro skateboarder/artist Ed Templeton and artist Matt Leines have teamed up for an art exhibition entitled of Map Of The Inner War. Templeton presents over 250 new works including painting, sculpture, photography, and works on paper, while Leines plays with cut-out forms. The exhibition lasts until December 13 at the Roberts and Tilton gallery in Los Angeles.
